About this stone
An Italian travertine in ivory and light cream, with fine bands flowing along the stone and fewer, smaller holes than most travertines. The overall look is quiet and refined, in the spirit of the travertine seen in Rome's historic buildings.
It suits living room floors, wall cladding, bathroom walls and stairs, and pairs well with walnut wood and brushed brass. The holes are filled for a smooth indoor surface; a honed finish keeps the soft look and is less slippery than polished. The pale colour shows spills and dirt more readily, so seal it well. It is also used outside on facades, terraces and pool surrounds, where a brushed finish gives better grip. It etches with lemon and vinegar, so it is not suited to kitchen countertops.
Care
Seal well after installation and renew every year. Clean with water and a neutral stone cleaner, and wipe coffee, juice and oil straight away.
Better avoided for
- Kitchen countertops
