About this stone
A marble with a very dark brown, almost black ground, laced with a fine web of white, gold and rust-red veins. Up close the colours shift between warm and cool, and in a room it gives a deep, layered look that works with cream walls, brass and walnut.
It suits feature walls, vanity tops, stairs, tables and floors in indoor rooms. The honest caveat is the stone's many fine fissures: slabs are usually resin-filled and backed, and edges need careful handling during cutting. It is also softer than granite and sensitive to acids, so it is better kept away from heavy kitchen use.
Care
Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft cloth, never acids or scouring pads. Reseal once a year.
