About this stone
Imperial Grey Dark comes from the same Sinai beds as Imperial Grey, but only the blocks that run to charcoal are selected for it. On this dark ground the small pale flecks and thin veins read as bright marks, which gives a bathroom wall, a vanity top or a single feature wall real depth. It pairs well with the lighter Imperial Grey, dark on the walls and light on the floor.
It behaves like the lighter grade: fine-grained and good at taking a polish, but still soft enough to scratch and sensitive to acids. Heat does not harm it. The honest caveat: on a dark polished surface, water spots, dust and etch marks show clearly, so choose honed or leathered for bathrooms and skip kitchen countertops.
Care
Wipe dry after use to avoid water spots, and clean with a neutral cleaner only. Seal after installation.
Better avoided for
- Kitchen countertops
