About this stone
Hurghada Red comes from the hills behind the Red Sea coast. It has a bright red ground with heavy black flecks, which keeps the colour lively rather than flat. It suits the outside of the house: garden paths, entrance steps, the edges of a terrace or a boundary wall.
Flamed or bush-hammered, the surface turns rough and grippy, so it stays safe to walk on when wet, and it holds its colour in strong sun. Polished pieces suit window sills and wall cladding. The honest caveat is that the red is strong; used over large indoor areas it can feel heavy, so many homes keep it for outdoor and accent work.
Care
Sweep and wash outdoor areas with plain water; a stiff brush lifts dirt from flamed surfaces. Avoid acid cleaners on polished pieces.
