About this stone
Red Aswan Light is the paler grade of the Aswan red: salmon-pink feldspar with grey and black grains and less of the dark mineral. On a wall or a staircase it looks warm rather than heavy, which is why it is often chosen when a whole house front or a long flight of stairs is to be clad in granite.
It is hard, weather-proof and keeps its colour in the sun, and flamed it gives safe grip on outdoor steps and paths. The caveat: it sits close to Aswan Red and Rosa El Nasr, and names overlap between yards. Put samples of all three side by side before choosing, and keep one grade for the whole job.
Care
Wipe with warm water and a mild soap, and avoid acid or bleach cleaners. Outdoor flamed surfaces only need washing with water and a stiff brush.
