About this stone
Egyptian alabaster is a soft, banded stone in honey, amber and milky white, worked in Egypt since the time of the pharaohs. Its special quality is that light passes through it. Cut thin, around 15 to 20 mm, and lit from behind, a panel glows warmly, which makes it a striking choice for a feature wall, a lamp, a niche or a table top.
It is also delicate. A key or a coin can scratch it, acids and water marks show quickly, and it cannot take foot traffic. Use it where people look rather than walk or cook. The honest caveat: pieces come in smaller sizes than marble, so a large wall is built from several panels, and every panel looks different.
Care
Dust with a soft dry cloth and wipe spills at once. Do not leave water standing on it, and never use acidic or abrasive cleaners.
