About this stone
Dumortierite is a dense blue mineral, often found with quartz. In this panel the pieces are large and cut in broad shapes, in denim and steel blue with pale grey patches, crossed by dark streaks and fine lines that give it a weathered, layered look.
It is usually chosen for a single piece rather than a whole room: a feature wall, a table top, a bar front or a reception desk. It is not suited to floors, kitchen worktops or outdoor use.
Care
These panels are stone pieces set in resin on a backing board, so they are more delicate than a solid slab: protect them from knocks, heavy loads and sharp objects. Wipe with a soft damp cloth and a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid acids, scouring pads and hot pans, and keep the panel out of strong direct sun, which can age the resin over time.
Better avoided for
- Floors
- Kitchen countertops
- Outdoor & facades
- Stairs
- Sills & thresholds
