About this stone
A sandstone from India with wide waves of golden yellow and peach crossed by pink and purple bands, like the layers of a desert cliff. Each piece has its own pattern, so a clad wall shows plenty of natural movement.
It is chosen mostly for facades, garden walls, feature walls and outdoor paving, and pairs well with plants and white render. The sandy surface gives useful grip outdoors. Sandstone is porous, so it absorbs water and oil and can stain or grow moss in damp shade; seal it, and keep it off kitchen countertops and vanities. The colours vary widely, so lay the pieces out before fixing to balance the wall.
Care
Apply a penetrating sealer after fixing and renew it every one to two years. Clean with water and a soft brush, never with acids.
Better avoided for
- Kitchen countertops
- Bathrooms & vanities
